Captain America wears a costume that bears an American flag theme, and is armed with a almost indestructible shield that hethrows at foes. The type is usually depicted as the alter ego of Steve Rogers, a frail young man increased to the peak of human perfection by an experimental serum to assist the United States government's efforts in World War II. Close to the end of the battle, he was captured in ice and survived in suspended computer animation until he was revived in the present day. Although Captain America often struggles to keep his ideals as a man out of his time with its modern realities, he remains an extremely respected body in his community which include becoming the long-time head of the Avengers. .

WEAPON :Captain America has used multiple shields throughout his history, the most common which is a nigh-indestructible disc-shaped shield made from an experimental alloy of metallic and the fictional vibranium. The shield was cast by American metallurgist Dr. Myron MacLain, who was contracted by the U.S. federal government, from purchases of Chief executive Franklin D. Roosevelt, to produce an impenetrable substance to use for tanks during World Warfare II. This alloy was made by accident and never duplicated, although efforts to reverse-engineer it resulted in the discovery of adamantium. .

Captain America uses his shield as an unpleasant throwing weapon often. The first instance of Captain America's trademark ricocheting shield-toss occurs in Stan Lee's first comics writing, the two-page text story "Captain America Foils the Traitor's Revenge" in Captain America Comics #3 (May 1941). The legacy of the shield among other comics character types includes the time-traveling mutant superheroCable telling Captain America that his shield still exists in one of the possible futures; Cable television holds it into struggle and brandishes it as symbolic. .

When without his trademark shield, Captain America sometimes uses other shields created from less durable metals such as steel, or perhaps a photonic energy shield made to mimic a vibranium matrix. Rogers, having relinquished his regular shield to Barnes, carried a variant of the vitality shield that can be used with either arm, and used to either block attacks or as an improvised offensive weapon in a position to cut through metal with relative ease. Much like his Vibranium shield, the vitality shield can be tossed, including ricocheting off multiple areas and returning to his hand. .

Captain America's standard is constructed of a fire-retardant materials, and he would wear a compact, bulletproof duralumin level armor beneath his even for added protection. Originally, Rogers' cover up was another piece of materials, but an early on engagement got it dislodged, thus almost exposing his identity. To prevent a recurrence of the situation, Rogers modified the mask with connecting material to his uniform, an added benefit of that was extending his armor to repay his previously exposed neck. As a member of the Avengers, Rogers comes with an Avengers priority credit card, which functions as a marketing communications device. .
