Captain America is a imaginary superhero appearing in American comic catalogs shared by Marvel Comics. Created by cartoonists Joe Jack and Simon Kirby, the type first appeared in Captain America Comics #1 (cover dated March 1941) from Timely Comics, a forerunner of Marvel Comics. Captain America was designed as a patriotic supersoldier who often fought the Axis forces of World Battle II and was Well-timed Comics' most popular persona through the wartime period. The popularity of superheroes waned following a conflict and the Captain America comic reserve was discontinued in 1950, with a short-lived revival in 1953. Since Marvel Comics revived the type in 1964, Captain America has continued to be in publication. .

Captain America wears a costume that bears an American flag motif, and is armed with a nearly indestructible shield that hethrows at foes. The type is usually depicted as the alter ego of Steve Rogers, a frail young man enhanced to the peak of human perfection by an experimental serum to assist the United States government's efforts in World War II. Close to the end of the war, he was stuck in snow and survived in suspended animation until he was revived in the present day. Although Captain America often challenges to keep his ideals as a guy out of his time with its modern realities, he remains a highly respected number in his community which include becoming the long-time head of the Avengers. .

WEAPON :Captain America has used multiple shields throughout his record, the most prevalent of which is a nigh-indestructible disc-shaped shield created from an experimental alloy of material and the fictional vibranium. The shield was cast by North american metallurgist Dr. Myron MacLain, who was contracted by the U.S. authorities, from purchases of Leader Franklin D. Roosevelt, to make an impenetrable material to work with for tanks during World War II. This alloy was made by accident rather than duplicated, although attempts to reverse-engineer it led to the breakthrough of adamantium. .

Captain America often uses his shield as an offensive throwing tool. The first instance of Captain America's trademark ricocheting shield-toss occurs in Stan Lee's first comics writing, the two-page text story "Captain America Foils the Traitor's Revenge" in Captain America Comics #3 (May 1941). The legacy of the shield among other comics people includes the time-traveling mutant superheroCable showing Captain America that his shield still is present in another of the possible futures; Cable tv carries it into challenge and brandishes it as a symbol. .

When without his trademark shield, Captain America sometimes uses other shields created from less durable metals such as material, or a photonic energy shield made to imitate a vibranium matrix even. Rogers, having relinquished his regular shield to Barnes, carried a variant of the power shield which may be used in combination with either arm, and used to either block attacks or as an improvised offensive weapon in a position to cut through metal with relative ease. Much like his Vibranium shield, the power shield can be tossed, including ricocheting off multiple floors and returning to his hand. .

Captain America's standard is made of a fire-retardant material, and he wears a light in weight, bulletproof duralumin level shield beneath his even for added security. Originally, Rogers' face mask was a separate piece of material, but an early on engagement experienced it dislodged, almost exposing his individuality thus. To prevent a recurrence of the problem, Rogers modified the mask with connecting material to his uniform, an added benefit of which was extending his armor to cover his previously exposed neck. As an associate of the Avengers, Rogers has an Avengers priority credit card, which acts as a communications device. .
